[Offintheshower] Off in the shower weekly report.

Gentlemen,

Several items for discussion today.

First, out of 12 teams, 4 of us are winless. So we still have a hope of
not being last, though we know everyone beats Off in... ok nevermind.

Practice: I'm calling a practice for Tuesday night, 5 pm at the field just
west of St. Francis elementry school, on Mikkelson Ave (West end, a few
blocks east of McCarthy.) If you make it, great, if not, too bad. Since
we aren't the most assertive bunch of guys I am going to become (more of)
a dictator. Bring your league fees ($30) and t-shirt money ($15) to the
practice, if you haven't yet paid, as league fees need to be in by Wed.
I'll also have everyone sign the roster/waiver Tuesday as it also needs to
be in on Wednesday.

If we don't have the $450 we need by Wednesday, we will probably end up
dropping out of the league. Not trying to scare you (ok I am, bring your
money) but I can't afford to cover for the team for any length of time.

Also, bring $10 for the reffing pool. Since Jeremy has reffed twice, he
doesn't have to pay and will actually pull $10 out of the pool right away.
In the meantime, until all the extra jerseys are claimed (see Roster and
Jerseys beloe), this money will go to Farrell to cover those costs.

The high is 8 on Tuesday, and we should have maybe an hour of sunlight, so
we'll try to at least run a few plays from the playbook (like the
reverses, shuttle passes, draws that nobody thinks we should try in a
game) and work on a zone defense.

It is the big park pictured here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=62+McCormick+Cres,+Regina,+SK&ll=50.465133,-104.666888&spn=0.004483,0.012802&t=h&hl=en
The north end of it (along Mikkelson) has a makeshift football field,
with yardlines mowed into the grass. I also live across the street.

Roster: we are down to 12 full time players, and 4 part timers (Stuart,
Lonie, Bryan T. and Cuyler.) Jared and Corey are out and Stuart and Bryan
can only commit to part time. Paul will be out for the next few weeks as
well, and Jeff won't be able to make it to the next two games.

The part time players will pay $10 a game to play, which we will decide on
how to spend as the year goes on. We need the rest of the roster to come
up with full league fees. We have room on our roster for a couple (5,
maybe 6) more guys, I know Terrance has lined up a guy. I might have one
or two guys interested as well. We need people who: a) can commit to most
of the games, b) can pay league fees, c) want to have fun, and d) (perhaps
least important, perhaps most) are good football players. If you know
someone who is interested, let me know asap - they should come to practice
Tuesday with some cash and ambition.

Keep in mind that for playoffs we will have to cut our roster to 15
players (playoffs will likely be one or two days only) but with everyone's
outside committments I would imagine we might have trouble with 15
committed to whatever date they are, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Worst case scenario, is that we split league fees twelve ways, so league
fees due now would be $37.50 instead of $30. At least I hope that is
worst-case...

Jerseys: with a few people pulling out, and hopefully a few additions to
the roster coming in, we may have to shift a few jerseys around. With
Corey and Jared out, we have two Large jerseys available for new players
(who will of course have to pay for them.) We have one extra (size Large)
jersey for a rover, which could also go to a new roster addition. At
their discretion, if we need extra jerseys, we may steal away the four
part time players jerseys for full time players. (2 Large, 1 Extra Large,
1 medium.) We won't be ordering any more jerseys, so other players will
just have to wear a black T-shirt. (If need be, we could find some
ink-jet iron on and make a jersey or two as well, not the same but close
enough.)

In summary, we *may* have available up to 5 Large jerseys, and 1 Extra
Large, and 1 medium for vacant roster spots (we won't take away jerseys
from part time players who want to keep them, but for the part time
players who would be willing to part with them I think we could use them.

Poker night: I've all but confirmed that we can have our poker night at 4
Seasons. I am waiting on a list of dates in November that the private
room there is available. It has a capacity of about 70 people, and the
room is free if we are eating and drinking. They have two buffets
available, a pizza and pasta, and an appetizer buffet. I think we'd have
to pay close to $10 a head for the buffet. Once we have the date booked,
we'll work out costs, entry fees, side tables, and all that. I'll keep
you updated, but this is 95% a done deal. Hopefully we can come up with
about $500 to cover the next league fee payment. Anywhere between $25 to
$40 seems like a reasonable entry fee to me.

Game time: We have a game Wednesday at 10 p.m. We are home team, so we
don't have to worry about changing jerseys. The Bullets are a good team,
2 and 0. They beat riderfans 40-0. There may be a beer on the line for
every guy who scores a touchdown... If anyone wants to ref at 11, speak
up, otherwise I'll take my turn.

Please let me know if you can make it to the game on Wednesday. Unless we
get a few more players on the roster, I'm worried that we won't have our 6
to start the game...

A few reminders:
 - no jewelery (visible piercings, chains, bling) can be worn on the
field.
 - spitting gets you kicked out of the building.
