I got this from my old flying buddy from the sixties. He is
having some health problems right now. I am going to ask him to
join the fido group. He always has interesting things to say. He
spent fifty-two years flying as a commercial pilot.

I read about Max Ward passing on CBC news
and then it as all the local newspapers.

There was every little in the world press but I guess the
passing of a Canadian businessman was not newsworthy enough. But
Max Ward did a lot for Canadian aviation by getting the buffoons
in Ottawa off their fat asses and allow competion in the airline
industry within Canada before it could be taken over by USA
interests. After Max Ward sold his struggling airline to
Canadian Airlines, he set his son up as a partner in
Booker/Wheaten Air based in Edmonton City airport. That is there
where he kept his Twin Otter and his jet. With the down turn in
aviation in Alberta, Booker/Wheaten gave up on charter business
and became the Canadian operator for Fedex. The company was
renamed Morningstar Air Express after Max’s nickname for his
wife. The company is still operating.
